Papua New Guinea – the 10th Star in the Crown of Our Lady, Queen of Peace
We are pleased to announce that on October 13, 2026, the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Muli was declared a National Shrine of Papua New Guinea and was included in the project “12 Stars in the Crown of Mary, Queen of Peace” as the tenth star—the Star of the Holy Family – the World Center for Prayer for Peace. ✨
Cardinal John Ribat presided over the solemn Mass, and four bishops concelebrated with him: Archbishop Clement Papa, Bishop Donald Lippert, Bishop Walenty Gryk, and Bishop Justin Ain Soongie.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, representatives of the Comunità Regina della Pace read the decree incorporating the shrine in Muli into the “12 Stars in the Crown of Mary, Queen of Peace” as the tenth Star—the Star of the Holy Family, World Center for Prayer for Peace.
A rendering of the future Chapel of Perpetual Adoration and its altar was also presented. A stone from the grotto of St. Michael the Archangel on the Gargano was presented to the rector and founder of the Shrine, Fr. Damian Szumski, MSF, to serve as the cornerstone for the chapel’s construction. Commemorative crosses were also presented as a token of gratitude for the warm welcome.
Representing the Association at the ceremonies were Mr. Piotr Ciołkiewicz, President, and Mr. Mariusz Drapikowski, Vice President of the Association.
We sincerely thank the Missionaries of the Holy Family and everyone who lovingly contributes to this work. Thank you for your prayers, support, and every act of kindness!
Let us surround the center under construction with our prayers. May Mary lead us to Jesus—the Source of true peace.
